Replacing your Makeup Tools

You know that your makeup has a shelf life and should be replaced regularly, but what about your makeup tools? Makeup tools don’t last forever and should also be replaced at regular intervals. Here are some guidelines to keep handy.

Sponges

For sponges you just have to rely on your own senses. If your sponge starts smelling or breaking apart, definitely get a new one. Also, if your sponge is completely covered from your foundation, go ahead and start using a new one. You can actually wash your sponges every 2 weeks and use facial cleanser, baby shampoo, or a special cleaner made for sponges. Just wash very gently and your sponge should last a bit longer.

Makeup Brushes

While there is not an exact timeline for how long brushes will last, there are some signs to look for.If your brush breaks, then of course you want to replace it. If a lot of bristles have come out then the brush probably isn’t working that well and you should be able to tell that it is time for a new brush. If your brush sheds or is misshapen, then that is a good indicator as well.Buy good quality brushes and clean 1-2 times a week. There are cleaners made for makeup brushes but like the sponges, you can also use facial cleaner or baby shampoo. Taking care of your brushes will help them last for years..

Eyelash Curler

It may seem like eyelash curlers last forever, but they really only last about six months. One pad can last up to three months, and if you get a replacement it can also last three months. While you would think you could just keep replacing the pads, your curler will actually start to get out of shape and not work as precisely as it did. This is based on using the curler daily. You don’t want to damage your eyelashes, so definitely replace your curler before it stops working.
