Pick the Right Belt

Posted on May 23, 2017 by Christopher Noland in Blog

Belts are an essential accessory and can really add style to an outfit. The right belt can also enhance your shape and help you look your best. There are so many choices out there, but we can help you out with these tips for picking the belt that is right for you.

Wide

A wide belt will trim the waist and can make a fashion statement. You may like a wide belt if you like a bolder look. If you are thicker in the middle this can be a good choice to look slimmer, just pick a solid and dark color in most cases.

Narrow

Narrow belts can take a loose shirt and make it look more tailored. Narrow belts are not as noticeable as a wide belt and can look more professional. A narrow belt also works well if you are short-waisted.

Classic

To get the most out of your belts, choose solid colors or monochromatic styles with no embellishments or bling. You should always have a neutral belt or two in your wardrobe. Think brown, black, beige, white or even navy.

Fabric

You can’t go wrong with a leather belt in a timeless style and color. This is a good investment to make in your wardrobe and should last for many years.

Defined

If you have a great defined waist, feel free to experiment with most types of belts. You can also get away with more color and funky hardware.

Bold

To make a bold fashion statement, just pick a plain, solid color top or dress (think black.) Add a bright or metallic belt to add some attention to your outfit.

Polish

For a polished look you can match your belt, handbag and/or shoes. This is great for work or any professional meetings you may have.

Outside

A belt can be used on skirts and pants, but it doesn’t always have to be underneath a blazer or jacket. Use a belt over your other layers for a trendy style and just for something different.
