Fixing a Nail Break

Posted on March 1, 2017 by Christopher Noland in Blog

A broken or cracked nail can really ruin your day and at the very least is pretty annoying. Wouldn’t it be great to fix it easily? There are some quick tips that can help repair a cracked or broken nail and let you get on with your day.

Before using any of these tips make sure your hands and nail area are clean and dry. Carefully wash your hands since you don’t want to snag or catch your nail. Dry completely.

The most popular fix for a cracked nail is the tea bag trick. You empty out a teabag first. Cut a small piece of the tea bag material so that it will cover the crack. Apply a base or clear coat on your nail and then place the material over the crack. Make sure the polish is still wet so the bag will stick. Let it dry and then file any rough patches. This will keep the nail together until it grows out and can be filed off. You should be able to apply regular nail color after this fix.

In a pinch you can also use a piece of gauze or even use super glue!

Another fix for a broken nail is using a piece of scotch tape. You can apply the tape to cover the break or crack. Make sure it sticks on well. After you put the tape on you can apply your nail polish and it will keep the tape there until the nail grows out and you can file it down.

The adhesive part of a bandage will also do the trick. Cut out a piece that will cover the nail area affected. Use your nail file to make the area with the bandage as smooth as you can. Finish off with polish and nobody will be able to tell you had a break.
