Finding the Right Skirt

Finding the Right Skirt

Your wardrobe should always include a few great skirts. Skirts give you so many options, since you can wear them with sweaters, blouses, jackets, or even nice tee shirts. You want to find a skirt that really works well with your body type, which can seem like a challenge at times. Thankfully, once you figure out your body type, you can find a skirt style that will look great!

If your bottom body half is slim, but you carry a little weight in your mid-section, then you are most likely an Apple shape. Go for skirts that are high waisted or have pleats on them. A flared out skirt will hid any stomach issues, and the high waistband will accentuate your body’s narrowest part. The skirt length should be above the knees to make your body seem longer and showcase your legs.

Pear shapes generally have their widest point at the hips. An A-line skirt is your best bet if you fall under this shape. You want to have focus on your thinner waist, and the A-line style will do this for you. Try to have the length be right at the knee, since that will tend to really look the best on your body.

Pencil skirts work great if you have a well defined waist, but have some curves. Pencil skirts will hug your curves, but smooth out the thigh area. A pencil skirt may seem boring, but you can find some great skirts in fun colors and spicy prints.

Choose almost any form-fitting style of skirt if your waist, shoulders and hips are similar in width. Accentuate your legs with a shorter length of skirt. Choose a snug, but comfortable, fit to get a curvier look. Since you want to create the illusion of a curvier shape, pick a skirt with a pattern to draw attention to your lower body half.
