What Foundation Should You Use?
A good foundation is the start of having a great makeup look. You have to start with your skin, and the right foundation is the important first step. Foundations come in many forms so it can seem difficult to choose the right one for you. Your skin type and tone will usually be the main factor in making a decision.
If your skin is normal, you can use foundation just to blend and hide any small flaws. Normal skin can use almost any kind of foundation, but a clear liquid type or a moisturizer with tinting would work nicely. A light foundation will help even out the skin tone and look great.
You need to take more care if you have dry skin. Dry skin usually need to be brighter and fine lines show up more. Try a cream foundation for a natural look, and get one with anti-aging properties if you are concerned about fine lines. Sunscreen is in most foundations, but double check!
A foundation with a matte finish is best if you have oily or combination skin. Choose an oil-free liquid foundation since that type won’t clog the pores and it is more lightweight.
Sensitive skin needs a lighter foundation so you don’t leave your face looking red. If you want to hide redness or discoloration, try a mineral type foundation. There are also special foundations on the market specifically for sensitive skin.
If you have a darker skin tone, find a foundation that isn’t too light and matches your tone. Lighter skin should use a foundation with a reddish base. Warmer skin tones should use a yellow base in their foundation. All skin types should use a primer that will help your foundation go on smoothly and helps it last a long time.
If your main goal is to brighten up your skin, there are luminous foundations that will do the trick. A lot of these foundations help lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well.
