Taking Care of Your Hair in Summer
Summer is full of warm sun and playing in the water. All of the things you love to do in the summer can really damage your hair. Just being out in the sun can be hard on your tresses. You want your hair to look great in the summer, so here are some ways you can keep your hair looking healthy and vibrant.
Some hair styling products have SPF in them to protect against sun damage, so be on the lookout when buying products. An easy way to protect against the sun’s rays is by wearing a heat or covering your head with a light scarf. This has the extra benefit of protecting your skin, too.
During summer your hair can really get dried out. Look for a deep conditioning treatment you can use when you start noticing the signs of dryness. You can do this weekly, but look for keratin in the ingredients, as this protein is the best thing for dry strands of hair.
If you still use heated implements, such as blow dryers, straighteners or curling irons, then you may want to purchase a leave-in conditioner. There are many different kinds, but try to find one that is not too heavy on your hair. You can also skip the dryer and go natural. If you want to contain your hair, try braids or a loose ponytail.
Going to the pool is always great on warm summer days and nights, but the chlorine can be very damaging. If you have lighter hair, you can also be left with a green tint. There are natural products that help remove chlorine, and you can also use club soda as a rinse after swimming.
Water is great for your overall health, but it also makes your hair look better. Staying hydrated is generally important during hot weather, and you will look and feel better when you are keeping your water intake high.
Enjoy the summer, but remember to take some extra care to keep your tresses looking strong and healthy.
