When you have fine hair, a lot of advice or hair tips just don’t seem to work. Having fine hair can be a styling challenge at times, but there are some things you can do to have your hair look great.
Ever try going to bed right after washing your hair? This just doesn’t work with fine hair. Never go to bed with wet hair. You can braid your hair wet and go to sleep, though. Braiding your hair when wet can even add some waviness to your hair.
You have probably heard that it is bad for your hair to shampoo every day. When you have fine hair, you DO need to shampoo daily. Hair oils will drag down your hair when it is fine. Wash every day so your hair doesn’t look limp. When you use conditioner avoid the root area since a lot of conditioners have ingredients in them that can also weigh your hair down.
Always use hairspray if you are curling your hair or getting an updo. A lighter hairspray can generally be used for regular use. You may have to experiment a little to see what works best for your hair.
Blow drying your hair with your head upside down does really work to add some volume to fine hair. When you hang your head down you can get to the roots of your hair for some lift. If you want more volume try some volumizing mousse. You want to just use a small amount. You can find light texturizing sprays as well that are made for fine hair.
If your stylist suggests backcombing your hair, it is probably a good idea. This is a professional technique which will add some extra lift and volume. Your style will also last longer, too.
