Skin Tone and Jewelry
Skin tone matters when selecting jewelry. The actual shade of your skin doesn’t matter too much, but you need to figure out what your skin tone is. You want to select and purchase jewelry that will look great on you now and in the future.
There are two distinct skin tones. You may have warm tones or cool tones. You will want to look at an area of your body that has veins visible. Natural light is the best when trying to determine the tone of your skin. You can also use a mirror if that is easier. The veins in your arm or around your wrist usually work the best.
If you veins look greenish colored, you are probably a warm tone. You may also notice that your skin has a yellowish or olive colored undertone. You will generally find warm tones on people with red, strawberry blond or brownish red hair. Skin tone does not seem to be influenced by eye color, and you will find both skin tones with any eye color.
Choose jewelry in metals like yellow gold, pewter, bronze, brass and copper. Don’t wear white pearls, but choose coral shades or golden pearls instead. Earthy colored stones look best with warm skin tones. Deep hues like green, brown, yellow, turquoise, coral and orange look great against this tone of skin.
Bluish or purple looking veins usually indicate a cool tone. You Might see red/rosy or pink undertone when you look in a mirror. Most people fall into the cool skin tone category. If your skin is brownish or dark, you more than likely are a cool tone. It does not really matter what color eyes you have.
Metallic jewelry like white gold rose gold, silver and platinum look the best for people with cool skin. The natural look of white pearls and diamonds are good choices for you as well. If you want colored stone jewelry, pick bright colors such as pink, purple, blue and red.
