Layered Hair Styles
Don’t be afraid to try a layered hair style. If cut well and maintained properly, the layered look can add dimension to any hairdo. Layers also add shape and style to a cut.
Curly hair can look and feel heavy, so layers add shape and lighten up your hair. You can round or square the layers and curls, depending on the shape of your face and the look you are going for. For curly hair that is longer, get long layers starting at the chin, to lessen the volume and emphasize the length of your hair.
Long hair can look lifeless if left alone, but layers add shape and body where you need it. For a wispy and sexy look, ask for layers at the ends of your hair, starting at the collarbone.
If you keep long layers in the back, but add shorter layers in the front that frame your face, you will make your eyes really stand out. After shampooing, use a blow dryer on the roots. Leave the ends damp and slightly dry them with a blotting motion. This will give a lifted and bouncy shape to your layers.
For a dramatic look, get start layers at the cheekbones and have them tapered to the ends of your hair. If you want to get more edgy, ask for layers that are razor cut and frame your face.
If you are growing out bangs you can add layers to blend in. Start them at the bridge of your nose and angle them downward. This should get you throw the awkward grow out stage and give you a fresh look, too.
Fine hair can look more voluminous with textured layers, but you have to be careful to not use too much layering. A bob cut with a few layers is usually the best style. Work with your salon stylist to get the best layered cut for your hair type and facial features.
