Summertime brings out the sandals and our toes! You want to show off your nice pedicure and cute polished toes. There are some things you can do to help keep your pedicure looking good and lasting longer.
You probably know that you can bring your own nail polish to the salon, but there is a good reason to do this and not just because you like the color. You just don’t know if the salon polish is a little old, and if it is then it will chip easier. You can also touch up at home if you use your own bottle of polish.
Make sure you wear open toed shoes in the first few hours after your appointment. It does take a bit of time to completely get hard and dry. Even though you want to show off your toes with sandals, do alternate with some sneakers or slip on shoes once in a while. If you always wear open toed shoes, then the exposure can make the color fade and chip quicker.
Since it can take up to twelve hours for your polish to be 100% hardened, don’t get your tootsies wet during that time. If you expose your feet to moisture the polish can start lifting up and won’t last as long.
Adding a clear topcoat can also help protect your color. Just apply every couple of days, especially around the edges which can start chipping first.
Cuticle oil can moisturize the nails and skin, which helps to prevent getting dry cuticles or hangnails. This can lessen the chance of peeling. You also want to moisturize your feet, but stay away from lotions that are scented since these can warp your nail polish.
Spend some time taking care of your feet and your pedicure should last through many bright summer days.
