Getting a Facial Mask
Getting a Facial Mask is a great way to condition your skin and make it look more radiant and youthful. Masks can be a great pampering experience, but you are nurturing your skin during this process. There are quite a few different kinds of mask, and here are just a few you might think about.
Clay- Clay masks work well on oily skin. These masks really clean out the pores and get rid of the oil and dirt that can get trapped. Clay masks are left to dry on the skin and then gently washed off with warm water. Stay away from Clay if you have dry skin, and opt for a facial mask that will add moisture to your skin.
Peeling – Masks that peel off are good for mature skin. These peeling masks tend to tighten up the skin. As these masks dry, they lock in pore impurities that will come off with the mask during the peeling process. Your trained esthetician will peel these masks off slowly, so your skin will not be damaged.
Collagen- Collagen masks are designed to boost the amount of your skin’s collagen. Collagen naturally keeps the skin tight and firm. As we age, there is less collagen in the skin. This is what causes wrinkles on the face and in the eye area. Masks that contain collagen help by retaining moisture, but have more temporary benefits. A facial mask that actually has ingredients that stimulate the production of collagen under the skin will have more long-lasting results.
If you are thinking about coming in for a facial mask, talk to your esthetician about your skin type and what results you are looking for. It is always recommended to do a small patch test if you are getting any mask for the first time.
