Have you ever walked into your local national drug and variety chain or grocery store and seen your favorite professional salon products? Have you ever wondered why it costs more at a national drug and variety chain or grocery store than your local salon? It’s most likely because the product has been diverted. Product Diversion is a big business today-it simply refers to product that is sold through distribution channels that it was not meant for. For instance, an authorized wholesaler has too much stock and off-loads it to a national drug and variety chain or grocery store. The wholesaler sells it for a premium and therefore the national drug and variety chain or grocery store must mark it higher than the local salon.

Finally, after what seems like 100 years in the making, our first website is up and ready to launch! The website was not our first priority, taking an existing business and making it a success was. So here is a little recap of the last 2 1/2 years.

For years, Christopher was getting restless in Riverside, so after a whole lot of pushing, shoving, and yes, nagging we decided to take the plunge and buy our own salon! We waited patiently for the right opportunity, and then it happened.

In August of 2010, we bought a salon in Greenwich CT… a fixer upper shall we say. It has not always been easy but we assembled a crew of truly talented and amazing salon and beauty spa professionals. From hair, our mane, pardon the pun, priority to nails, facials, waxing, and massage, we started out a group of strangers and have became a team, a family.

The beautiful historic building we found at 124 Greenwich Avenue is one of the few on the Avenue that has a front entrance with stairs and a side entrance with an elevator. This was a dream come true. A facility that can accommodate all of our guests.

We welcomed old friends and made many new ones as we built our reputation in the area. Adding to that, we received “best of” nods from both Serendipity and Greenwich magazines in 2012.

I quit my day job to manage the salon, a job that is often much harder than most people would think. Trying to corral a group of artistic personalities can be trying at times, but we have all worked hard to make our vision come true.

This little note would not be complete without thanking everyone involved, from our team to our amazing photographer Michael Molinoff to Michael and Adela at Netplus Consulting and Marilyn Myers who makes sure all my thoughts not only make sense but are grammatically correct.
