We talk about body shape and even the shape of your face, but did you know that the shape of your eyes should also be considered when you are thinking about how to apply your eye makeup? Here are some common eye shapes and tips on what types of makeup looks will be great on you.
If your eyes are somewhat elongated and tend to turn up a bit on the ends, then you likely have almond shaped eyes. This is a great shape and you want to accentuate it. Use any color you like on the upper lid and use your favorite eyeliner along the upper lash line to really show off the almond shape. A little mascara on the outer corners will also make your eyes look great.
If you have very defined lids that are larger you might have round eyes. This shape is pretty easy to identify. If you do have round shaped eyes, try a Kohl liner on the inner lids for some drama. This dramatic look creates more length to the shape of your eyes.
For hooded lids, the top fold of your eyes tends to dip close to your lash line. You will want to add some color to your brow bone area in a shimmery, but neutral shade. Don’t put any shadow or color on the crease areas of your lids in order to have your eyes appear larger and more open.
A flatter lid without great definition is called a Monolid. Your eyes will look swollen if you choose colors with a brownish or red tone to them, so avoid those hues. You want your eyes to look bigger, so go with more of a taupe or gray color.
If your lids are deeply set your eyes draw shadows and the eye area looks darker. Always use a primer for your eye makeup. The use of primer will lessen the look of any darkness and make your eyes look brighter, too.
