If you haven’t tried a dry shampoo, you really should. Your hair will thank you for taking a break from daily shampooing. If you are worried about how your hair will look when you skip the shampoo, don’t!
When you shampoo daily you hair is stripped of nutrients which will eventually make your hair strands unhealthy. Skipping a day here and there will help your hair out, and a dry shampoo can be used so your hair won’t look lifeless or greasy.
Dry shampoos come in two types. The first dry shampoo type is for getting grease out of your hair. The second dry shampoo type is more for giving you volume on the days you don’t shampoo.
If greasiness if your main concern look for any ingredient with starch (like cyclodextrin.) This will be a powdery spray and will absorb the oil and grease from your hair. Your hair will look clean and freshly washed, even though you didn’t use water or regular shampoo.
The dry shampoos meant for increasing volume with have alcohol in them (usually one of the first ingredients.) This dry shampoo will give you lift and volume, which is especially needed for fine hair. This dry shampoo is not as powdery and has a fine mist. It is also more clear when it comes out. Again, this is for volume, not greasiness.
Most of these dry shampoos come in a spray form. Sometimes you will find a powder version as well. When you use dry shampoo make sure to only apply it at the roots, not on your whole head. You also only want to use this on dry hair. You want to spray from about 6 to 8 inches away. You only have to wait about 2 minutes for it to dry and then you can brush or comb out. Style as you normally would, and nobody will ever know that you skipped the water today!
