Don’t Be Afraid of Waxing
If you have never had a waxing done before, you probably have some questions and may even be a little bit afraid. Here is some basic information about waxing and definitions of the different types of waxing services that are available.
Before you consider waxing, talk to your esthetician if you have sensitive skin, have any health issues, or take any medications. To make waxing effective, your skin needs to be in good condition first, without sensitivities.
Waxing can be painful, but the more often you have it done, the less painful it will be. Waxing last three to four weeks since it is pulling the hairs out at the root, and not just superficially. Drink water before your waxing appointment so that you are well hydrated. Stay away from caffeinated drinks before you come in. If you drink more water the week before your appointment you will also be eliminating excess acid from your body, which will help your skin be less sensitive. You can also take some ibuprofen before your appointment to lessen any discomfort you may have.
Waxing can be done on almost any body area that has hair, so feel free to ask your esthetician if you aren’t sure. Here are some of the most basic types of waxing:
- Eyebrow- Get your eyebrows in great shape. Eyebrows will be trimmed and shaped to look great.
- Legs- Tired of shaving all the time? A leg wax can last up to six weeks!
- Bikini- A bikini wax focuses on the areas that can be seen when you are wearing a swimsuit.
- Brazilian- A Brazilian wax is a bikini wax that goes a little further. Most hair is removed, with only a little strip in the front remaining. Some people choose to get rid of all the hair, and that is a personal choice.
- Chin, Lip, Ear, Arm and Back- All of these areas can be waxed for hair removal, also.
