Oatmeal may be great for breakfast but it can be a useful ingredient to help you look your best. Oatmeal is a great staple for your pantry, but maybe your beauty closet as well. Here are some ways to use oatmeal in your beauty routine.
Whether or not you have ever used dry shampoo, making one with oatmeal is a must do. To skip a day of shampooing or if you are in a rush, dry shampoo can do the trick to get you through the day. Start by grinding up some oats into a fine powder. You want to end up with about ½ cup of the oatmeal powder. Add a tablespoon of cornstarch to this powder and mix well.
To make this oatmeal dry shampoo smell great, just add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil. If you have dark hair you will want to add a little bit of cocoa powder to the mix. Rub this mix all over your head and hair. Use a wide tooth comb to comb it out. Oatmeal is super at removing grease and oils!
Since oatmeal is a great exfoliator, you can use it to make a terrific face scrub, too. Just take ½ cup milk and mix 2 tablespoons of oatmeal with it. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to this oatmeal/milk mixture. Scrub for a couple of minutes and rinse off for a clean and pretty face.
You can also use oatmeal to make a good body scrub. Take equal parts of oatmeal and baking soda and let sit in warm water until the oatmeal gets softer. That is it! This oatmeal mix is a great scrub to use all over your body. This combination will give you super soft and smooth skin.
