Ever look at the runway models with all the bold, bright colors and think “I could never do that!”? Well you don’t have to go with bold colors from head to toe, but you can definitely add just a splash of something bright.
Whenever you want to add some color and boldness, just go for one area at a time. The rest of your makeup palette should stay pretty neutral. When your makeup is almost barely there, the color splash will stand out without being glaring. Keep the look balanced and try something bright and bold.
One very fresh look for your eyes is using a purple color. Purples are actually pretty neutral, depending on what hue you choose. Purple also tends to look good with almost any skin tone, so it is a great choice to play around with.
Violet is a pretty shade to go with if you aren’t sure what to try. Use a shadow brush to get a clean application and make sure to blend it well at the crease. For a deeper color, use a primer first. The primer will tone down any greenish or blue undertones so your purple pops.
You can also skip the bold shadow and put the color on your lashes. There are some great colored mascaras out in the market right now. A rich cobalt blue or a purple looks amazing. The blue mascara will make your eyes look brighter, too.
When using colored mascara use a white primer first. This will intensify the color and give you a nice seal. You can also start with regular black mascara and then just use the color on the tips of your lashes. Only do this on the upper lashes. This gives you a pop of color, but a tad more subtle.
